As many as 4,300 Russian citizens were reportedly arrested for staging a demonstration to protest Vladimir Putin's actions against Ukraine. They shouted 'No to War' and 'Shameful!' aimed at the Kremlin.
In a Reuters report, dozens of protesters staged a demonstration in the city of Yekaterinburg, Ural region. One of the demonstrators was reported to have been a victim of brutality by the police using anti-riot equipment.
A mural protesting against Putin was also plastered in Yekateriburg. The Russian Interior Ministry reports that at least more than 5,200 people have demonstrated across Russia.
As many as 3,500 of them were arrested by the police. The details are 1,700 people in Moscow, 750 people in St. Petersburg, and 1,061 in other cities.
However, in a report by the human rights agency OVD-Info, Russian police arrested 4,366 people from 56 different cities.
The arrests of protesters who reached thousands are claimed to be the highest figures since January 2021. At that time, thousands of people demanded the release of opposition leader Alexei Navalny because he was arrested after returning from Germany.
